Battery: An officer went to the intersection of Clematis Street and Quadrille Boulevard at 3:30 a.m. in response to a report of a fight in progress. He saw a man lying on the ground with a 2-inch laceration to the side of his head. He was being treated by fire rescue. A witness told the officer that the injured man had gotten into a fight with another man as they were crossing the street. The witness did not know why the two were arguing, but he saw one man strike the other, causing him to fall on the street and injure his head. The victim was taken to an area hospital. The officer’s attempt to speak to the victim and his girlfriend at the hospital was unsuccessful, as both said they did not want police involved.

Sheriff’s Office, West Palm Beach

Theft: Someone in a black Kia stole a tire off a white Chevy in a neighborhood in the 6100 block of Forest Hill Boulevard. The victim was planning to retrieve surveillance video of the incident.

Theft: A license plate was removed from a trailer parked at a business in the 9000 block of Pioneer Road.

Criminal mischief: A woman attending a family gathering in a home in the 5399 block of Cannon Way had to park her vehicle down the road from the house. When she returned to her vehicle, she noticed it had been keyed from front to back on the driver’s side.

Theft: A tag was removed from a car in the 4700 block of Villas Santorini Drive.

Strong-arm robbery: A man was walking in the 400 block of South F Street when he was approached by a pair of men. They threw him to the ground, kicked him and went into his pockets. They stole his wallet, which contained $30 and a check for $735. The pair fled on foot.

Theft: A man waiting at a bus stop in the 200 block of North Dixie Highway decided to walk across the street to a fast-food restaurant. When he got there, he realized he had left his wallet on the bus stop bench. He looked across the street and saw a disheveled man pick up the wallet, then hurry off.

Lantana Police

Fraud: A woman in the 300 block of East Ocean Avenue reported that she had been a victim of a gift card scheme. She said she received a call from a person claiming to be from Apple support, telling her that her computer had been hacked. He asked her to buy gift cards, then provide the numbers to him as part of Apple’s reimbursem*nt program. The woman bought gift cards from several stores and gave the numbers to the man as requested. The woman then became suspicious and called Apple. She was told she had been scammed.

Vehicle burglary: A man told police that he was arrested on a failure to appear warrant, and his vehicle was left in a parking lot in the 400 block of North Dixie Highway. When he was released from jail, he saw that his vehicle had been burglarized. The sunroof was smashed. Missing were two iPhones and $284.

Theft: A man allowed the friend of a friend to stay in his motel room in the 1200 block of Hypoluxo Road for the night because she had nowhere to sleep. The man awoke to find his iPhone and $900 worth of gold jewelry missing. The woman, described as a 170-pound redhead, was gone. The man was unable to contact the friend who introduced them, as his stolen iPhone had the friend’s phone number.

Battery: Two women got into a scuffle at a facility in the 600 block of South Dixie Highway. Both new clients at the facility, they were pulled apart by staff. After interviewing one woman, police learned that she had made remarks to the second woman, setting her off. She declined to pursue charges. Police then spoke to the second woman, who said she reacted to racial remarks made by the first woman. She said she lost her cool and realized it was a mistake. A manager at the facility said that both women would be transferred to different locations.

Sheriff’s Office, Royal Palm Beach

Theft: A woman reported that her wallet was stolen at a business in the 500 block of North State Road 7. Her credit card was used fraudulently, she said.

Sheriff’s Office, Wellington

Theft: A man ordered an iPhone which was supposed to be delivered to the 4700 block of Stables Way. The phone never arrived.

Disturbance: A man was in a restroom at a shopping complex in the 10300 block of Forest Hill Boulevard when he spotted an Apple Store bag on the sink. He looked inside and found two iPhone boxes that appeared new. He took the boxes out of the bag and placed them in his shopping bag. As he was leaving the restroom, he encountered a man who was entering to retrieve the bag he had forgotten. The man spotted the phones in the other man’s shopping bag and confronted him. The pair argued, with the finder of the phones unwilling to part with them. Eventually, with a witness looking on, the man returned the phones to the rightful owner. Happy to have his purchases back, the man told a deputy he did not wish to pursue prosecution.

Sheriff’s Office, Loxahatchee/Acreage

Criminal mischief: A woman in the 12000 block of 55th Road North found the rear window shattered on her vehicle. She believes the damage was done by a friend or family member of her ex-boyfriend.
