In my head canon, this was added because of my wishlist post.

That’s nice when it happens .

The model is definitely a little less raspy than the TS 808 models. Subtle for certain.

The maxon 808 sound more natural and don’t have this mid thing that the ts9 have .

I owned and tried 3/4 ts like . I compared them in the same room with my amp to choose which one I prefer and it was the Maxon 808.not so subtle when you switch one to another in the same room

I hear it in the new model. It’s quite subtle.

It's more noticeable when you roll off the volume on your guitar.

I don’t have tried it yet in the axe but with the real units it was here . It’s not something “big” but for metal tone you feel it . The maxon 808 is more “natural”. Add what you need but don’t change the root of the sound . Don’t know if I wait the final release before updating but that’s cool to have it

At default settings, phase inverting the Maxon signal against the TS 808 signal yields a fairly small differential signal.

This is pretty consistent with my pedal building experience -- the 808/TS9 circuit is reasonably resilient to component changes and component drift because it doesn't seem to rely very heavily on their operation at the extreme ends of their performance. The OpAmp, especially is run pretty cold if my memory serves me correctly.

Always nice to have one more model, but I think the Maxon 808's hype is more marketing than actualy reality.

Edit: if you asked me to identify the Maxoff vs. the TS 808 in this clip I'd be guessing. One channel is the Maxoff 808 from the 17.00b3 release, the other is the TS808 from the 17.00b2 release.

Listening through my laptop speakers I can quickly hear the difference between the two. Is the second one the Maxon...regardless, it's the one I'd choose to use.

in a metal context , as boost , with a recto head or whatever , doing palm mute . I never used them as stand alone or as dist . That’s not marketing. The 808 sound scooped after the ts9

The ts808 was interesting. I never liked the ts9. In the end I sold them all, including the precision drive the day I purchased the JP2c. The shred mode is included . I was using boost pedal with the roadking to tight the dist

They're panned. There's no first and second.

How about this?

The danger of assumptions, especially after a night of consumption. I saw the break (or significant lowering) of the wave and thought they were two takes. I went back and forth between the beginning of the file and right after that dip. Thanks for setting me straight.

Yea, I think the volume drop can be summed up as my sloppy playing. Implemented - Maxon OD808 (18)
