Best Mods for My Time At Portia [2023] - Basically Average (2024)

It’s no secret that I’ve been addicted to My Time at Portia as I can’t stop talking about it while streaming on Twitch even though I haven’t actually streamed it and chose to play it on YouTube instead.

While My Time at Portia started off as a game that I never thought I would ever mod, the reality is that I’m pro-mod user, especially when it comes to making games more accessible and less time consuming for gated tasks. Realistically, while my work is video games, I’m typically juggling about 5-6 games at a time at minimum to keep updating guides, continue creating content for YouTube as well as keeping content on stream interesting; so to be able to customize my game is a priority. As mentioned, I’m really not a fan of time-gated requirements, quitting games like Forager when resources took too long to actually craft and I found myself in a similar position when it came to the late-game of My Time at Portia.

While I understand the appeal and reasoning for gating players so they don’t finish a game too quickly, I’m clearly not a patient person, so it made me excited when I found out I could mod Portia or else I probably would have put it down.

Now, if you know anything about me, I’m not someone who mods games to the point where I immediately blitz through mechanics and don’t like to use mods that give me items that I don’t have, but I do enjoy mods that make gameplay harder (in the fighting sense) and get rid of mechanics that seem too daunting or time consuming (ie. crafting times). The following are all the mods that I personally enjoy using in My Time at Portia.

All can be found on Nexus Mods and will require players to install the Unity Mod Manager. They are fairly simple to install, though if you are having difficulty understanding the instructions on the Unity Mod Manager page I will be happy to rephrase them in hopes of helping you out.

Let’s get to Modding!

Best Mods for My Time At Portia [2023] - Basically Average (1)

#10. INFINITE LEVELS

As someone who hasn’t hit the cap of Level 99 in My Time at Portia, I’m actually going to be sad for the day it happens. So, to avoid this, I’ve installed the Infinite Levels Mod.

Admittedly this is not a required mod, which is why it’s the lowest on my list, but it is nice for players who are hoping to grind this game even beyond the main story.

Players will receive the following beyond Level 99:

21 Maximum Health

2 Attack Damage

1 Defense Point

1 Skill Point

The last in the list will only be helpful if players are planning on using the next mod in the list, though I would strongly advise against pushing these too mods too far as there is the potential that they will crash your game if you get too over powered. Use them carefully, though as someone who has not crashed this game before, I don’t know if simply removing the mods will fix a crash. I will let you know and update this guide if it ever happens as I hope to test this out for clarity.

#9. SKILL LIMIT REMOVER

I have to say, I’m hit and miss about the Skill Limit Remover. I like the idea of it a lot, but I can’t say that I’ve needed it.

Essentially, instead of Skills being limited to the amount that players can currently put in (ie. 2 skill points maximum or 4 skill points maximum) players will be able to indefinitely upgrade all skills. This can be helpful in situations where a player wants 100% guarantee, though players will have to be careful when going beyond 100% of anything as this can crash the game.

Again, I’m going to try to test out all of these to make sure that I can give you suggestions on which skills to avoid upgrading, but at this point, the only ones that seem to be a problem is when there is over 100% probability for something to happen.

#8. SHIPPING BIN

As much as I wasn’t a big fan of Stardew Valley, I have to admit I was a mega fan of the Shipping Bin and how I could simply sell everything from one location. For me, My Time at Portia doesn’t need this mod as I like going to the market to pick up any items that I need, though it does come in handy for the days where the Market Price is too high to purchase and instead I’d like to sell.

For those of you who want to make as much Gol as possible, this is the mod for you!

#7. ADVANCED GRILL

I have to admit, I’m too lazy to use the Cooking Pot and tend to go into battles without food simply because I refuse to cook, even though I know the recipes. This will fix it for you.

With Advanced Grill players will be able to favourite their recipes in the Recipe Book and will be able to craft them from the Advanced Grill. To be honest, I wish this mechanic was actually implemented in the game, because I don’t like the way the Cooking Pot works, which is so weird since I play Don’t Starve Together and don’t mind the Crockpot.

#6.MULTIPLE ROMANCES MOD

Are you trying to figure out who you want to marry and can’t make your choice? No need to worry anymore!

With the Multiple Romances mod players will be able to marry everyone in town and will also be able to ensure that no one will get jealous if they are married to multiple people. In my opinion, I’m a mega fan of this mod as each character that you marry comes with their own perks. So get to romancing and have the whole town move into your home… except Higgins. No Higgins please!

#5. MULTIPLE COMMERCE ORDERS

I can’t tell you how much I enjoy the Multiple Commerce Orders mod. With this mod players can choose a variety of things including how many Commerce Orders they will see a day, how many they are allowed to accept as well as what tier Commerce Orders can be.

In my opinion, this mod could be used too efficiently, though due to the fact that it is in the control of the player it makes it a lot simpler not to overuse.

If you’re upset with the fact that Higgins is taking all the highest rewards, grab this mod!

#4. RELIC MANAGER

I have to say, I hate the way that the Relics work in My Time at Portia as I keep going to the Research Center with a couple of pieces missing and get frustrated on my way running back home. With the Relic Manager players will get to see whether or not they have enough Relics to complete a piece at any time and will even be able to keep track of which Relics they have left at the Museum by hitting Page Up.

In my opinion, this is an absolutely necessary mod, but that’s because I can’t handle the frustration of running back and forth.

#3. INVASIONS MOD

Quite frankly, the mod that kept me playing My Time at Portia was the Invasions Mod.

This mod allows for the chance for a random high tier boss to appear anywhere on your map, requiring you to take it down. While players can find these bosses in the dungeons, I like it better when it’s a random spawn because it keeps me on my toes and has me doing something almost every morning.

The bosses that can spawn depend on a player’s level and if players want to take it one step further they can choose to gain reputation with the town whenever they take down a boss.

This is highly customizable, so enjoy!

#2. SAVE ANYTIME

Quite frankly, I don’t use the Save Anytime mod because I simply don’t care at this point and will repeat a day if I forget to fall asleep, but for those of you who are frustrated by the save only being when you sleep, grab this mod!

Admittedly, the best perk about this mod is the fact that you can have multiple save files for the same character, allowing you to make backups more easily and ensure that if anything was to go wrong in your gameplay you can fix it and revert to an older save.

#1. YOUR GAME YOUR SETTINGS

By far the best mod to ever have is the Your Game Your Settings mod.

I would strongly recommend only having this mod to change your game files as if you have multiple mods that affect the same settings you can crash your game.

In Your Game Your Settings you can change the following:

How Fast You Run

How much Stamina/HP you recover over time

How much reputation you get from NPCs or turning in Comissions

How much Gol you get from Commissions

How much Experience You Get

The speed that Crafting Stations Produce Items

And much more.

GET. THIS. MOD.

CONCLUSION

While these are my favourite mods, I’m curious what your are! I saw there are a lot of mods that change the texture of the game that I haven’t tried, are you someone who uses these? Let me know in the comments below!
